Attenti all’Uomo.

Ci troviamo nel borgo antico del paese, in prossimità dei forni in cui i maestri vasai da secoli producono oggetti in argilla. Partendo dalla piazzetta del paese, tra le vie tutte in salita s’intravedono scritte di devozione, inni a Maria e a San Rocco, alternati a simbolici di partiti politici cancellati dalla mano umana o logorati dal tempo. Tra queste vie in cui si portano in processione i Santi, per volere del Sindaco sta trovando spazio una nuova piazza, denominata piazza sospesa, poiché ottenuta dalla demolizione di un palazzo abbandonato a un piano di altezza rispetto alla via di camminamento.

Qui a mezz’aria tra una prospettiva e una scalinata, il Collettivo Fx ha realizzato un omaggio ai tanti devoti di San Rocco, il santo che andava a curare gli appestati seguito da un cane. É proprio il cane con il pane in bocca e il sedere in alto, simulando un atteggiamento di gioco o di sfida, a rappresentare l’omaggio alla figura del santo accompagnato da una raccomandazione: confidando più nell’istinto animale che nella razionalità umana, al posto dell’antico cave canem -attenti al cane- l’artista raccomanda ATTENTI ALL’UOMO.

Beware of the Man

We are in the ancient suburb of the village, next to the ovens where the potters for centuries produced objects in clay. Starting from the village square, between the steep streets glimpsed are written devotional hymns to Mary and to St. Rocco, alterning with symbolic political parties deleted by human hand or worn by time. Among these streets, where were carried in procession the Saints, at the behest of the mayor, is finding space a new square, called “Piazza Sospesa”, obtained by the demolition of an abandoned building on an upper-level compared to the height of the walkway. Here, in mid-air, between a prospect and a staircase, the artist Collettivo Fx has created a homage to the many devotees of St. Rocco, the patron who cured the plague victims followed by his dog.

It's the dog with bread in his mouth and the bum sticking up, simulating a game or an attitude of defiance, to represent the homage to the figure of the saint accompanied by a recommendation: trust more the animal instinct rather than the human rationality. Instead of the ancient dictum “Cave Canem” (beware of the dog), the artist recommends BEWARE OF THE MEN.
