Percorrendo Via Carmine si raggiunge il ponte di mezzo, una delle strade principali di accesso al borgo di Gerocarne. Sulla parete in prossimità del ponte che segue lo scorrere del ruscello, quasi come se fosse spinto dalla forza della natura e dall’acqua stessa, ha trovato spazio e tempo espressivo la pittura di Giorgio Bartocci.
Partendo dalla fluida rappresentazione di un fossile ha inserito il suo gesto pittorico in uno spazio urbanizzato in cui la natura ed il naturale sovrapporsi degli eventi sono gli elementi principali cui si è ispirato. Il trovarsi in prossimità di un corso d’acqua fluente, dinamico, che rappresenta la forza stessa della natura, capace di essere modificata ma incapace di essere arrestata, ha influito sul suo gesto artistico, che come lo stesso fiume si è ripetuto singolarmente nel corso della creazione, tono su tono, sottolineando l’incisività del gesto umano nel tempo e come questo influisca sulla natura stessa delle cose.
Facendo propri elementi del territorio di Gerocarne, come i fossili reperiti nelle cave di sabbia appena sopra il paese, tramite i suoi colori ha sprigionato parte dell’energia insita nella natura per raccontare il viaggio umano, quell’eterno ritorno cui l’umanità è destinata trasformando il giallo, il bianco, il grigio, il nero e il rosso mattone nei colori del nostoi del ciclo della vita.

Per Nostoi, volevo presentare al pubblico un'opera che si adattasse al territorio circostante con una profonda ricerca del gesto pittorico, come simbolo del tempo trascorso e del ciclo della vita. Un'opera mirata al ricordo delle origini, del tempo e dei trascorsi che hanno generato la nostra società "il viaggio fisico e psicologico", il "ritorno al luogo di origine", una composizione ricca di simbologie ricorrenti nel mio lavoro, un'omaggio alla natura, alla luce, all'uomo e alla vita non solo terrena.
La composizione nasce da un grande fossile che sembra essere ancora vivo e mutante, questo fossile organico che vuole dare uno slancio ai mille frammenti che esplodono come eruzioni vulcaniche circolari, diventando materie liquide e stratificate, complesse ma elementari allo stesso tempo, frammenti fluidi uniti l'uno all'altro realizzati attraverso una formula compositiva ludica, gestuale e infinita. La solidità della storia che si evidenzia nei substrati delle diverse culture ed etnie che hanno popolato questi territori fascinosi, generando la società attuale, luoghi ricchissimi di materie prime, di incontaminate bellezze e oggi tanto complessi da dimostrare purtroppo un'imbarbarimento dell'uomo moderno, dovuto dal "mito del progresso e del benessere"… i sacrifici che hanno portato tanta ricchezza culturale e materiale, sembrano essere oggi perduti ma che dobbiamo riconquistare tutti partendo dal ricordo degli antenati e dal rispetto della terra madre.
Walking along Via Carmine, you reach a bridge which is one of the main gateways to Gerocarne’s town. On the wall next to the bridge alongside the river, Giorgio Bartocci’s painting work found place. It looks somehow pushed by the natural strength of the water. Drafting from a fossil’s representation, the artist nested his work within an urban space inspired mainly by nature and the natural evolution of the events.
The work was inspired by the river since it represents the nature’s own strength which can be modified but never stopped. His work underlines the impact of the human work along the history and how this interacts with nature.
The work implied the local elements of Gerocarne area such as the fossils found within the sandy quarry. The artist spread the energy intrinsic of nature to tell us about man’s journey: the eternal return humanity is destined to. The artist transformed the colours (yellow, white, grey, black and red) of the bricks into the colours of the lifecycle’s NOSTOI.
According to the Gestalt Therapy, the introjection represents a method through which human beings can feel self-confident since they are able to let their needs correspond with the ones of other people or from outside. At NOSTOI FEST the artist wanted to present a work which could fit with the surrounding area. Through a deep research of the painting endeavor, the artist wanted to focus on the past time and on the lifecycle. His work is aimed to remind us of our roots, of the past times and of what generated our modern society, “the physical and psychological journey”, “the coming back to the birthplace”.
The work is rich of the artist’s favorite symbologies, it represents a tribute to nature, to light, to man and to the ultramundane life. The composition was conceived from a big fossil which looks still alive. It embodies thousands of scraps which seem to explode as volcanic eruptions turning into liquids and layers of new materials. These scraps are very fluid but at same time they are joint together through a mixed composition. The history of those amazing territories is enriched of the layers of different cultures and populations who lived there. Those areas are rich in raw materials and pure beauties. Nowadays these show that the “myth of progress and of economic wealth” actually led to a barbarization in those places. We should remember all the efforts which brought this cultural richness based on the respect of nature which seems to be lost nowadays.
